At 18, a German student saw Ravi Shankar perform and his life was changed forever. Prem Joshua spent the next 20 years in India, mastering the sitar and learning the traditions of Indian music. As his own style developed, he blended Eastern styles and instruments with Western Jazz forms using Indian flutes, sax, electronica and tarana-style (wordless) vocals.
